Chester Military Museum: September 2010

After a brief respite it was time to show the citizens of Chester our firing and bayonet drills. Upon our first fusillade, a momentary hush descended up on the gathered spectators, followed by applause. A repeat fusillade was followed my more applause. As an encore a bayonet charge was made toward the spectators to their appreciation.

At the Chester Cross

During the afternoon, a guard was maintained over the Regimental Colours and a repeat of our firing and drill display was given. To end the day, the Colours were recovered and we returned to the beat of the drum.

A good day was had by all, with a view to a return visit in 2011.

Your obedient scribe,

Pte Nat Benefield
